A folder brings the manuscript with it, so the claims can be laid out by where they appear in the text. A lone file gives the argument map only — unless it is a bundle, which carries the text inside it.

Paste the passage you are working from. Plain text is fine — paragraphs stay paragraphs. A handout's worth is the right size; whole books come in by the folder instead.
Quotations will be checked against this pasted copy — not against the original. Saying which edition it came from lets a reader check the copy too.
